tablet_text_alignment=&#8221;default&#8221; phone_text_alignment=&#8221;default&#8221; bg_image_animation=&#8221;none&#8221; border_type=&#8221;simple&#8221; column_border_width=&#8221;none&#8221; column_border_style=&#8221;solid&#8221;][vc_column_text]Humble leaders improve the performance of a company in the long run because they create more collaborative environments.<\/p>\n<p>They have a balanced view of themselves \u2013 both their virtues and shortcomings \u2013 and a strong appreciation of others\u2019 strengths and contributions, while being open to new ideas and feedback.<\/p>\n<p>These \u201cunsung heroes\u201d help their believers to build their self-esteem, go beyond their expectations, and create a community that channels individual efforts into an organized group that works for the good of the collective.<\/p>\n<p>For example, <a href=\"http:\/\/journals.sagepub.com\/doi\/abs\/10.1177\/0149206315604187\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">one study<\/a> examined 105 small-to-medium-sized companies in the computer software and hardware industry in the United Studies.<\/p>\n<p>The findings revealed that when a humble CEO is at the helm of a firm, its top management team is\u00a0more likely to collaborate and share information, making the most of the firm\u2019s talent.<\/p>\n<p>Another study showed that a leader\u2019s humility can be <a href=\"http:\/\/amj.aom.org\/content\/59\/3\/1088.abstract\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">contagious<\/a>: when leaders behave humbly, followers emulate their modest attitude and behavior.<\/p>\n<p>A study of 161 teams found that employees following humble leaders were themselves more likely to admit their mistakes and limitations, share the spotlight by deflecting praise to others, and be open to new ideas, advice, and feedback.<\/p>\n<p>Yet instead of following the lead of these unsung heroes, we appear hardwired to search for superheroes: over-glorifying leaders who exude charisma.<\/p>\n<p>To read the full article click <a href=\"https:\/\/hbr.org\/2017\/04\/if-humble-people-make-the-best-leaders-why-do-we-fall-for-charismatic-narcissists\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here.<\/a>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row type=&#8221;in_container&#8221;
