How can women boost their confidence? To address this issue, we examined women&#8217;s response to critical feedback from peers. The surprising finding \u2013women absolutely take feedback to heart.<\/p>\n<p>As published in <a href=\"https:\/\/hbr.org\/2016\/08\/the-gender-gap-in-feedback-and-self-perception\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Harvard Business Review<\/a> and illustrated in this <a href=\"https:\/\/hbr.org\/video\/5159470991001\/even-after-criticism-men-think-highly-of-themselves\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">video<\/a>, women more quickly align their views of themselves to match others&#8217; opinion.\u00a0After getting critical feedback from peers, the average woman saw herself almost exactly as her peers saw her. That means, women&#8217;s self-confidence decreased over time.<\/p>\n<p>In conclusion, women\u00b4s greater openness to peer feedback is a mixed blessing. It increases their self-awareness and authentic leadership, and improve their chances of promotion.
